To solve this problem, and to eat fewer calories than the body expends, not only must the quantities of food eaten be less, but for involuntary, automatic, sustainable appetite suppression, the types of food and the amounts of exercises must change. And with this change, while weight is lost, the body must also learn to live, eat, and exercise, to maintain the same weight for periods of time. Why? Because otherwise, what will happen is this: the up-and-down of weight loss and weight gain will counter any weight losses with subsequent gains. Creating sustainable weight loss over a period of the rest of one's life is a puzzle worthy of Sherlock Holmes.

At the time we eat, when we are in a weight-gaining mode, we tend to eat unconsciously, according to immediate appetite. With carbohydrate addiction, this becomes a self-reinforcing cycle where the more we eat the hungrier we get. One way to offset this pattern is to insert a conscious step just as we are in the process of preparing food and/or eating. That is, to anticipate how to eat so as to feel satisfied in the near future. This can be done with a thoughtful key question.

Understanding the Different Functions of Different Types of Food for Fitness Levels
By examining the body's metabolism, I've found a key insight for eating to reduce appetite. Proteins and fats have a different set of functions for the body than carbohydrates. This insight defines the functions of different kinds of food for different types of exercise. Resting requires one combination of foods. Engaging in low or moderate-intensity exercise like walking, jogging slowly, or riding a bike slowly, require another combination of foods. Intense exercise for advanced athletic training requires still another combination of foods. My program takes into account your fitness levels as they are, and your goals for fitness levels in the future.

Achieving Appetite Suppression by Varying Food Types and Exercise
It is well-known among athletes and body-builders that certain kinds of foods and certain kinds of exercise, in combination, will suppress appetite or the desire to eat. Eating carbohydrates enables us to exercise intensely, but also has a downside: stimulating appetite for more carbohydrates. Eating a diet low in carbohydrates tends to suppress appetite, but is not suited to some forms of intense exercise. My own work in this area has led me to help my clients to find the proper balance for them, given their own goals and unique requirements for food.
